[In The Red, 2007]

"Throughout the record, their sound wanders drunkenly through a range of styles that hit upon everything from Motown, Psych, British R&B, Punk 60's Pop and Country all masked under the twang and fuzzed out umbrella of primitive garage. In fact that whole thing is done with such grace, I might use the word "swaggers" rather than wander." -blog.sailorjerry.com

Film School-Hideout(2007)

 Film School

If you've got some electrical engineering experience and a desire to get rich quick, here's my advice: Invent the Loveless effects pedal. You could pretty much charge whatever you want for it; while a few button pushes at the Sam Ash are all that separate you from getting the tone of Dimebag Darrell or whoever the DOD Grunge module is supposed to emulate, would-be Kevin Shields still go on Creation-style spending sprees to get anywhere near his sound. You're guaranteed brand loyalty as well, if Hideout is any indication. With an almost charming defiance, Bay Area foursome Film School are long on whooshy, gliding guitar lines and short on a whole lot that can distinguish them from the dozens of bands doing the same exact thing.

Tobacco-Fucked Up Friends(2008)

 Tobacco

Fucked Up Friends

Tobacco is the pseudonym of Tom Fec, architect of the reclusive (and frequently masked) Pittsburgh psychedelic pop outfit Black Moth Super Rainbow. Known for a tendency towards the peculiar (he recently made a mix for XLR8R.com entitled Songs To Get Killed in the Woods To and is rumored to produce tracks somewhere deep in the Pennsylvania forest), Tobacco employs old-fashioned electronic instrumentation such as analog synths and tape machines to create the hallucinatory sounds behind BMSR and his eponymous solo recordings. On Fucked Up Friends, his first companionless LP, Fec puts those toys to use for an effort that veers from his fulltime group's sunny-but-warped electronica and creeps towards a darker brand of instrumental hip-hop.

felicidades a los chicos de Suturee que les hicieron un review en la página de NPR:

(copy/paste- con link a la página abajo)

NPR.org, January 27, 2009 - Certain albums seem to lend themselves to a particular season. Some bands make music that beautifully accompanies those long, lazy summer days spent in the shade. Other artists, like today's group, Suturee, perfectly compliment the bleakness of winter, even though the band is originally from sunny San Juan, Puerto Rico. Suturee's self-titled debut album is mellow and melodic without aggravating your Seasonal Affective Disorder. Suturee channels the warmth and coziness of an afternoon spent by the fire, sipping hot chocolate while the snow falls.

Like other moody groups (Mojave 3, Adem, A Weather), Suturee makes a languid blend of folk, pop, and shoegaze. The instrumentation is richly textured, but the gently sung vocals of chief members Julian Brau and Rebecca Adorno are the key to the group's appeal. As the band's name implies, Suturee makes music for those who have felt the sting of sutures or encountered "the disease of sound" mysteriously alluded to in the track "Me To Meet."

The Deviants 3
[Transatlantic, 1969]

"The DEVIANTS were winding up the hippy establishment a decade before punk. Kafka, Burroughs, Quatermass movies, Maxfield Parrish, LSD 25, riots and amphetamines were complementing their sound, inspired by the Fugs, Eddie Cochran, British R&B and the Mothers Of Invention." - Alive Naturalsound Records

Supuestamente, cuando en los sesentas los hippies estaban tripiando con acido y jodiendas, esta gente se injectaba metadrina mientras paquiaban el resto en latas de coca cola.

Aquarela do Brasil
[Verve,1987]

"Recorded in 1969, during a "howling snowstorm" in Stockholm Sweden of all places, the Brazilian Super-Diva, Elis Regina, and the acclaimed jazz master, Toots Thielemans, conjured up a steaming, mid-summer Brazilian beach in the studio. Elis is on fire throughout and clearly having alot of fun! Her musical quintet, Elis Cinco, is brilliant and audibly enthusiastic. Singing with a wide range of emotions and tossing off gymnastic phrases with ease, Elis is incredible! She wields her voice like a knief, cutting quickly and deeply into each song. Toots is equally brilliant and the entire ensemble plays like old musical friends. I speak no Portuguese but this music is as clear as a crystal. " - comentario en amazon.com

Wailers

One Love at Studio One (2disc set)
[Poli-Rhythm, 1991]

[Acuarela, 2004]

"Migala was a rock-based experimental band hailing from Madrid, Spain. The band was known for its complex, varied, and often cathartic musical arrangements, heavily influenced by pop, post-rock, folk, and traditional Spanish music...

...Nacho Vegas, ex-guitarist Manta Ray, was a member of Migala from Arde up til the Increible Aventura, while at the same time releasing albums under his own name and with his band, Las Esferas Invisibles."
