Este ha sido mi disco favorito de Brasil por varios años ya. Fue uno de los primeros que llegué a conseguir (quizás eso explica el porque), pero por esos azares del destino lo perdí, sólo para re-encontrarlo hoy en el internet. Son de las primeras grabaciones de los tres, incluso anteriores a muchos de sus discos debut. Aunque diferencia un poco de la versión que tenía (en ésta, las últimas 4 o 5 son versiones de canciones por maria bethania de noel rosas), sigue teniendo esos primeros rarisimos singles.
(Por cuestión de organización cambié todos los tags de los artistas a caetano veloso, sorry, se las cambian)

Grupo de ponkas locas tocando un garage encabezado por Holly Golightly como la versión nena de Thee Headcoats, producido por el mismo Billy Childish, modificando sus canciones (y de otras bandas que de seguro reconocerán) con un 'girly spit-in-your-eye twist'. La historia del mundo del señor Childish es sumamente extensa, quién a sacado más de ciento y pico de discos con sin numero de bandas desde los principios de los ochenta... de seguro suba alguno de ellos más adelante.

Second Stage: Fantasmes

For the past few years, we've been featuring great unknown and unsigned artists on a program we call Second Stage. We originally started Second Stage because we were hearing and discovering so much great music, but just didn't have enough room or time to get all of it on All Songs Considered. So Second Stage became our place to showcase all these great artists that few people had heard of.

Starting today, Second Stage will become a regular feature of the All Songs Considered blog. For longtime fans of the show, you'll still be able to discover great music. You'll also be able to download the songs directly from the site.


Cover art for 'The Reveller,' the debut album from Fantasmes.

Our first band for the new blog version of Second Stage is a group called Fantasmes. It's a quartet from Puerto Rico, featuring the songs of frontman Mario Negron. The band describes its music as "shoegaze, indie, Hawaiian" and there's a nice, moody dreaminess to the music that I love. Fantasmes' debut album is called The Reveller, and this track is "A Sinister Garden."

Crumbling the Antiseptic Beauty

On Crumbling the Antiseptic Beauty, there are hints of Felt's later English pop grandeur -- on the instrumental opener "Evergreen Dazed," for example, which (sans rhythm section) pits guitarist Maurice Deebank's cascading, euphoric noodlings against Lawrence Hayward's clear acoustic strums -- but overall this is a fairly primitive affair. There is a stripped-down psychedelic feel to certain tracks, with drums pounding out a tribalistic, rolling beat beneath Deebank's complex guitar runs and Hayward's obtuse vocals. Later in their career, particularly on 1985's The Strange Idols Pattern and Other Short Stories, Felt would finally curb all that minimalist atmosphere into three-minute pop gems (while maintaining their skewed, unconventional palette); here, however, the pieces are in place but the overall vision is still rudimentary. tomado de allmusic.com
